June 11, 2009 - Knapp Posts Strong Buell Finishes at Road America James Gang/Hoban Brothers Racing Wins Moto-GT1 Race
East Troy, Wis. (June 8, 2009) Taylor Knapp posted fourth and sixth place finishes aboard his Latus Motor’s
Buell 1125R in last weekend’s AMA Pro Racing Daytona SportBike double header at Road America, his best finishes of
the season.
Knapp’s fourth place finish in Saturday’s rain-soaked Race 1, which included a two-lap dash for the checkered
flag after a late-race caution, was a test of fortitude and survival for the 22-year-old, Lapeer, MI-based racer.
“Normally I'm horrible in the rain. But I clicked good, and got a good rhythm and flow [going],” said Knapp, who
led the 13-lap race early until being passed by eventual winner Chris Peris (Erion Honda) on lap four.
“The big difference for me this weekend was that I qualified well. I started up front and was determined to
stay up front.”
Saturday’s wet and wild race also resulted in 6th, 7th and 9th place finishes respectively for Buell 1125 riders
Danny Eslick, Shawn Higbee and Michael Barnes. “Having four privateer riders from three different Buell teams
finish in the top ten was a testimony to how easy the 1125R is to ride in the wet,” said Erik Buell, Chairman and
Chief Technical Officer of Buell Motorcycle Company. “It’s also proof of the success of our concept of providing
the same parts to all teams instead of running a factory team.”
In Sunday’s cool but dry Race 2, Knapp raced as high as third, then settled back into sixth to finish between
the Buell 1125Rs of Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Racing/RMR/GEICO rider Danny Eslick in fifth and GEICO
Powersports/RMR’s Michael Barnes in seventh.
Knapp also posted Buell’s highest qualifying position of the weekend, earning a fifth place starting grid spot in
Friday’s Superpole final qualifying session with a 2:22.164 lap. It was Knapp’s first Superpole appearance of the
season.
“Being able to start up front makes a big difference in the weekend. The field is stacked with ten or 20 guys in
the same second, so getting up front from the back is really hard,” he said. “But being fourth twice makes me
hungrier than ever. Gotta get that podium now.”
Eslick’s combined sixth and fifth place finishes brought his season total to 199 points and solidified his
third place standing in the Daytona SportBike championship behind Attack Kawasaki’s Jamie Hacking in second
(204 points) and championship leader Team M4 Suzuki’s Martin Cardenas (255 points) who won Race 2.
In Saturday’s two-hour SunTrust Moto-GT endurance race, the James Gang/Hoban Brothers Racing team of Paul James and
Jeff Johnson won the Moto-GT1 class in challenging wet/dry conditions with a combination of luck, strategy and quick pit stops.
“To win at home, the home of Buell and during the Buell Homecoming, with our primary sponsors, H-D/Buell of
Appleton and Hoban Brothers nearby, and to have friends and family here, is very special,” James said.
“This win means a lot to me and to our team.”
After starting the race from the pit lane and initially being shown a lap down at the finish, the Liberty Waves
Racing team of Eric Pinson and Eric Haugo was elevated to third place in Moto-GT1 after a post-race analysis of
timing and scoring restored the team’s missing lap, and is now tied for the championship lead with Old Pros Racing
in the GT1 class with 68 points.
In the Moto-GT2 class, the James Gang/Hoban Brothers Racing team of moto-journalists Troy Siahaan and Kevin Duke
placed fourth, followed by Old Glory H-D/Buell’s Jaycent Gebers and Dennie Huff in seventh.

The GEICO Powersports RMR Buell and Rossmeyer RMR Buell team, finished out the weekend with a DNF and 12th place finish in the Sunday Daytona
Sportbike Race. Track temps reached an astounding 150f and everyone was hoping for better results. Within opening laps of sundays race, Barnes
on the GEICO Powersports RMR Buell 1125R took a spill and couldn't get the bike up and running again, which forced Barnes to retire from the race.
"I am not happy with the results from this weekend, but I am keeping my head up high and am looking forward to Road America, where I can confident
in both my GEICO Powersports RMR Buell and myself." sighs Barnes.
Teammate Eslick on the Rossmeyer RMR Buell 1125R had a decent start to the race and held a good pace until the closing laps when his tires started
to loose grip. Eslick settled for a 12th place, which has secured him in the third position in the points fight for the championship. "Like Barney
I wanted a better result for my team this weekend, but it just didn't happen, Road America is right around the corner and I have done well there in
the past." Says Eslick.
With a two week break both teams will regroup and be ready to head to Road America, which is the team's home track and is also home to the Buell
Manufacturer!

Richie Morris Racing races to the podium and a top five finish in the middle of a tornado!
This past weekend was nothing short of strong winds and heavy rains. But that wasn't enough for the
GEICO Powersports RMR Buell and the Rossmeyer RMR Buell teams to have strong finishes!
The weekend started off with friday morning practice.
Both Eslick and Barnes were interested in seeing how the Buell 1125R would fair at Barber.
The first three tracks were fast tracks and this one different.
The day was spent searching for the right setup and feel.
Barnes took the 10th position in basic qualifying which put him in Superpole later that afternoon,
where he remained in the 10th position which would be his starting postion in Saturday and Sunday's races.
Eslick left basic qualifying with a 12th place. Hoping to do better in saturday mornings final qualifying session.
Due to bad weather all qualifying was cancelled and Eslick had to settle with 12th.
Saturday wasn't the picture perfect day the day had hoped for but both Barnes and Eslick had good finishes.
Barnes in 11th place while teamate Eslick slid into the top ten with an 8th place finish.
Sunday's race was about to start when a tornado warning echoed throughout the paddock.
Sirens roared while announcers over the loud speakers urged all teams and spectators to take cover in safe areas.
With the looming tornado and teams trailers being torn down from fear of the tornado and winds tearing them down.
Teams and fans were unsure any racing would come about. Then after a few hours of hiding out in safe shelters.
The announcement was made to go racing. Barnes and Eslick both are great riders in the rain and were ready to head out to the track.
The track was drying up but still had water in certain parts. Eslick had a few great battles and all the while teammate Barnes was lurking behind him.
The race was narrowed down to 16 laps instead of the intended 21. " I really thought I could've caught up with Danny, if we had raced all 21 laps" says an excited Barnes,
who didn't even know his finish until minutes after he stepped off his bike to run.
Barnes ended up 5th which is his best finish this season. "I'm feeling strong and am ready to keep getting top five results"
Eslick secured a fantasitic ride to 3rd place. "I wasn't sure a podium was doable, but I'm up here and can't complain," states Eslick.
Eslick leaves Barber 2nd in standings, eager to return to Infineon where he had a 3rd place podium finish there last yr.
While Teammate Barnes is looking for redemption at a track that hasnt been so kind to him in the past, Barnes is 10th in standings.
The next round kicks off May15-17 in Sonoma Calif, at Infineon Raceway!

The GEICO Powersports and the Rossmeyer GEICO Powersports RMR Buell team
leave Road Atlanta with a successful weekend behind them.
Both riders had a good practice Friday morning which allowed them to use
their basic qualifying time to put their Buell 1125R's in the afternoon
Superpole Qualifying. Barnes ended up 5th in Superpole and Danny 9th.
Danny Eslick had a 3rd place finish in Saturdays action packed Daytona
Sportbike race while teammate Michael Barnes finished a solid 11th place.
Sunday’s race was nothing short of a nail biter.
Danny had numerous battles for the lead and some close calls, but managed
to get to the checkered flag first! This is Danny's 3rd win of the season
and has put him into the points lead by ten points in front of veteran
rider Jamie Hacking. "I really had to work for this win today," exclaims
Danny, "I really wanted to put my Rossmeyer GEICO Powersports Buell 1125R
back on the top of the podium."
Barnes finished 8th on Sundays race, which is his best finish so far this
season. "I'm battling the flu right now and am really happy to have been
able to get out there ride and finish in the top ten," says Barnes. Barnes
is just a mere 1 point out of the top-ten in points for the Daytona
Sportbike Class.

Motorsports Park in Birmingham Alabama on May 1-3.

Richie Morris Racing leaves Auto Club Speedway with two victories and two more top 20 finishes.
Sunday morning left many wondering if there was going to be any racing at all...but come the
2:30pm start time for the last of the double-header weekend for the Daytona Sportbike class,
there was blue skies ahead.
The #9 Bruce Rossmeyer machine piloted by young gun Danny Eslick started the race from second position.
With the rolling start and the green flag thrown Danny once again took the lead and held it until the checkered flag.
This time Danny glanced back and saw another rider closing in.
Danny kept his head low and the throttle pinned, shutting out any chance of losing his lead.
"This is just awesome, I came into this weekend without winning a AMA National and I am leaving with two back-to-back!" says Eslick.
"I plan on keeping my team, sponsors and everyone else who supports me proud."
I want to thank my Bruce Rossmeyer RMR Buell Crew for giving me a fantastic bike to race on"
Barnes who started in 24th position and finished 12th the day prior had some great battles within the middle of the pack and crossed the finish line at 15th.
"I am happy with my finish, especially with having to nurse this hand injury and the cold weather," states Barnes.
I am looking forward to our next race at Road Atlanta and expect to be fit and ready to ride once again!
Richie Morris Racing will be heading next to Round 3 at Road Atlanta April-3-5. Both the GEICO Powersports and Bruce Rossmeyer Teams will be ready for some more good results on their Buell 1125R's.

March 20, 2009
Richie Morris Racing started off with the fastest time (1:29.203) in morning practice with Danny Eslick aboard the Bruce Rossmeyer RMR Buell 1125R. Danny showed fans exactly what kind of power the Buell had at Daytona and was determined to do it again here at Fontana. The weather was perfect in the morning with the sun shining and free of high winds. Neither riders had been able to test here pre-season, so both the GEICO Powersports as well as the Bruce Rossmeyer RMR Buell crews had to work extra hard to make sure set-up was good for the track. During the morning practice, Danny was consistenly in the top four , which was comprised of four different manufacturers.
Barney ended the morning session in the top 20. Barney still recovering from a pre-season hand injury improved in qualifying moving up from 16th to 13th position, again just one tenth of a second from being able to make Superpole later in the afternoon.

Elkhart Lake, WI -GEICO Powersports RMR Buell Rider Michael Barnes and Bruce Rossmeyers RMR Buell rider Danny Eslick put on quite a show for the Daytona 200 held this past Friday night March 6th at the Daytona International Speedway.
With Eslick qualifying 2nd just one tenth of a second off of pole postion and Barnes in the top 15 for the race start, both bikes took to the grid. Within the first few laps Eslick had secured a lead and was involved in battles to maintain it. Unfornately for Eslick his fairing on the right side of his Buell 1125R came loose and caused him to pit. With the crew working hard to try and remedy the loose fairing, Danny knew he was loosing valuable time being in the pits, a quick tape job and Danny set off to try and reclaim his lead and gain position. Sadly he had lost a few laps while in the pits and it would prove to be quite a struggle to gain what he had lost. The Bruce Rossmeyers RMR Buell crew hadn't expected this problem and was well on looking for a podium or a race win.
While fellow teamate Michael Barnes on the GEICO Powersports RMR Buell was still out on the track a misread on fuel caused him to pit a lap earlier than planned. The crew acted quick refueling his bike and sending him back out within seconds.
Sometime later a Red flag caused many confusions. As the Safety car took to the track many riders including Eslick took this as an opportunity to make up a few postions that he had lost during the unscheduled pit stop. Barnes though stayed behind fellow rider and waited to the safety car pulled off the track to start racing again.
The Daytona 200 is the most unpredictable race. We are happy to know that the Buell 1125R is going to be a contender this year in the Sportbike Class . We are looking forward to Auto Club Speedway in two weeks!

Michael and Danny had a plan for qualifying all set but once the Safety car gave the singal to go green Barnes had to pit. Barnes pulled in for a clutch adjustment and then he got back on track. With a massive field of riders to push through Danny Eslick ended up leading most of the morning session and then on one of the last laps he was pushed down to second.. Barnes missed advancement to the Thursday Superpole by one tenth of a second.. "Although I missed superpole by less than two tenths, i'm happy with the times I did and look forward to the 200 tomorrow night," said Barnes.
Eslick misses the pole position for the Daytona 200 by just one tenth second. Tomorrow Danny and the Bruce Rossmeyers RMR 1125R Buell will start in second position while teamate Michael Barnes on the GEICO Powersports RMR 1125R. will start in a respectable 12th postion.

"This morning season was awesome, I had a relaxing session riding around and getting used to things. I caught a draft from a few other riders and had no idea I posted the fastest lap until I pulled into the pits and talked to my crew. I felt in control and was riding at a comfortable pace, everything seemed to click" , says a optimistic Eslick.
Danny then went out again on track for the Safety car session during the night with the bright lights of the Daytona International Speedway guiding his and his teamate Michael Barnes along the way. Danny used this session to try some different settings and accumlate to riding under the lights

"The first ever Daytona Sportbike session was a real confidence booster after realizing my hand is less of an issue than I anticipated. I'm becoming more familiar with my GEICO Powersports RMR 1125 Buell, especially after the night where I've been able to make adjustments to the suspension and take advantage of having enough strength to do a string of laps. I'm going into qualifying knowing we have the abilitiy of qualifying upfront," remarks Barnes.
Thursday morning both riders will head out to the track early in the morning and qualify for the main attraction of Bike week which is the historical Daytona 200. After basic qualifying the top ten riders from the morning session with take to the track one last time before race day for SuperPole, which takes the top ten riders from the morning session and allows each of the ten riders one out lap, a flying lap and a in lap. At the end of the session the top ten spots on the starting grid are then determined.
Tuesday, February 24, 2009 -- East Troy, Wisconsin
Buell racers from around the country are gearing up for the 2009 race season, which kicks off at Daytona International Speedway during Daytona Bike Week February 28 through March 6.
In AMA Pro Racing action, the 2009 season opens with a paradigm shift as new series management and class structures debut at Daytona on Wednesday, March 4. The historic Daytona 200 moves to a thrilling new nighttime run under the lights on the evening of Friday, March 6. Six Buell 1125Rs are entered in the Daytona SportBike class for the Daytona 200, which will be broadcast live on SPEED TV at 8 P.M. (Eastern). Daytona 200 Buell riders include Michael Barnes (Geico Powersports/RMR), Danny Eslick (Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Racing/RMR), Alan Schmidt and Josh Bryan (Latus Motors H-D/Buell), Bryan Bemisderfer (H-D/Buell of Frederick) and Shawn Higbee (Bartels’ H-D/Buell).
“We’ve learned a lot from racing in the MOTO-ST series for the past two seasons,” said RMR’s Richie Morris. “It was intense and the competition was good, but it was nothing like we’ll face this year. We’ve got a second year bike, two new teams, and two new riders, and we’re starting the season at the biggest, most important race,” Morris said. “We’ve had good results in testing and I think before the end of the year, we’ll be up front. We’ve got a veteran [rider] and a young gun, so I think we’ve covered all our bases.”
Joining veteran racer Michael Barnes is 22-year-old Danny Eslick, who cut his teeth racing dirt track before turning to road racing in 2005. He’s no stranger to the Daytona 200, having finished fourth in the 2005 race.
“I’m super excited to be working with Richie, Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Racing, Buell, and my teammate Michael Barnes,” said Eslick of Broken Arrow, Okla. “I was planning on getting my dirt track gear together when I got the call that [RMR] was looking for a second rider.” Eslick’s first introduction to his Buell 1125R and the new Dunlop spec tires came during a test at Jennings Grand Prix in Florida in early February. “These new tires are right up my alley. I think they’re really going to work well with the Buell’s torque to get off the corners,” said Eslick. “I’d be more than happy with a top five finish, but my goal for Daytona is to leave with a good solid finish and come out healthy and ready for the rest of the season.” Recovering from a pre-season testing hand injury, Eslick’s teammate Michael Barnes will use the opening days of Bike Week to test his readiness for the 200-mile race.
“After our successful test under the lights at Daytona in January, we were testing at Jennings GP in early February and unfortunately I had a high-speed low side crash that resulted in a third metacarpal fracture. It was immediately plated, and the prognosis is very good,” Barnes said. “We’re managing the soft tissue recovery now, and we plan to use the CCS weekend to assess my performance for the 200. If I don’t think I’m capable of representing the team and our sponsors, we’ve got a substitute rider lined up. But I’m optimistic, because I really don’t want to miss the start of my 21st season racing at Daytona!”
Rounding out the AMA Pro Racing Buell highlights at Bike Week is the debut of the SunTrust Moto-GT series’ new class structure, which includes the horsepower and weight restricted GT1 and GT2 classes. The two-hour season opener will begin at 4 P.M. on Friday, March 6, immediately prior to the opening ceremonies for the Daytona 200.
Stepping up from the former MOTO-ST GrandSport Twins class to contest Moto-GT1, the James Gang/Hoban Brothers Racing team sponsored by H-D/Buell of Appleton will debut its new 1125R with riders Paul James and Jeff Johnson. Also entered aboard an 1125R in Moto-GT1 is the Liberty Waves Racing/Antelope Valley H-D/Buell 1125R ridden by Eric Pinson and Eric Haugo.
“We earned 11 podium finishes in two seasons of MOTO-ST competition aboard a Buell Firebolt, but this is a whole new ball game,” said James. “We’re ready for the challenge.”
Bike Week’s racing action kicks off with the Championship Cup Series (CCS) and American Sportbike Racing Association Pro (ASRA Pro) at DIS the weekend of Feb. 28-March 2, and topping the list of Buell entries in the ASRA Pro Thunderbike class will be the return of a trio of former class champs, including 2007 class champ and 2008 runner-up Dave Estok (Deeley H-D/Buell). Also entered in Thunderbike are 2006 champion Dan Bilansky (Hal’s H-D/Buell), and 2004 champion Bryan Bemisderfer (H-D/Buell of Frederick). All are riding Buell Firebolt XB12Rs.
“I’ve got this weird on again, off again thing going with the [Thunderbike] championship. I won it in ’03, ’05, and ’07, so I feel like this is my year,” said Estok, who will also contest the Parts Canada Superbike Championship this season.
